Chocolate and Cannabis: a Magical Pairing

Posted on February 5th, 2024 to Infused Chocolate by

Hey New Yorkers, are you considering a new type of cannabis edible because you’re bored with the same-old, same-old gummies… Have you tried infused chocolates? (I would say have you tried the #1 infused chocolate in NY, Jenny’s Elegant Chocolates, but that might be gauche).

But you should really try Jenny’s Elegant Chocolates. Even if it’s only for the Belgian Milk Chocolate that’s so silky smooth it seduces your taste buds. Or the pinch of cinnamon up front (do I sound like a sommelier?), or the delicate crunch of baked organic quinoa. Or the surprisingly delicious kosher sea salt that sneaks up on you at the end.

Chocolate and cannabis are not really such an unlikely pair as you might think. In fact there are lots of good reasons why these two go together incredibly well:

  1. Synergistic Effects: Both chocolate and cannabis contain compounds that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system, potentially enhancing the effects of each other. The combination can produce a unique and heightened experience for consumers.
  2. Taste Enhancement: Chocolate’s rich and diverse flavor profiles, ranging from sweet to bitter, can complement the earthy and sometimes pungent taste of cannabis. The sweetness of chocolate can help mask the herbal taste of cannabis, making it more palatable for some individuals.
  3. Versatility in Consumption: Chocolate can be infused with cannabis in various forms, including bars, truffles, and cookies. This versatility allows consumers to choose their preferred method of consumption, whether it’s biting into a chocolate bar or savoring a cannabis-infused truffle.
  4. Controlled Dosage: Chocolate provides an excellent medium for accurately dosing cannabis. Manufacturers can precisely measure the amount of cannabis extract infused into each chocolate product, ensuring consistent and controlled dosages for consumers. This helps individuals manage their intake more effectively.
  5. Longer Shelf Life: Chocolate has a relatively long shelf life compared to other perishable cannabis edibles. The stability of chocolate allows cannabis-infused products to maintain their potency and quality over an extended period, reducing the risk of spoilage or degradation.
  6. Dual Health Benefits: Both chocolate and cannabis have been associated with various health benefits. Chocolate contains antioxidants and flavonoids that may contribute to heart health, while cannabis compounds like CBD (cannabidiol) have potential anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. Combining the two allows consumers to enjoy these health benefits simultaneously.
  7. Enhanced Relaxation: Chocolate is known for its mood-enhancing properties due to its ability to stimulate the release of endorphins in the brain. When paired with cannabis, which can induce feelings of relaxation and euphoria, the combination can amplify these effects, promoting a deeper sense of calm and well-being for some individuals.
